Birthday Fun

Mark and I went back and forth for a long time about whether to have a birthday party for Camilla or not. In the end, we decided against it since we couldn't be sure the weather would be nice and we couldn't fit all of our friends in our apartment. Plus she won't remember it. So we spent the day doing fun things as a family instead. She got to take her first trip to the Sciencenter. I've been there lots of times with a kid I used to babysit, so I was excited that she was sort of big enough to finally go even though most of it was over her head.

She loved the ducks at the water table!!

She played here for a good 20 minutes and then we got bored and made her move on.

Then we showed her how to drop the balls down the chute. She just wanted to hold onto the balls.

And we explored the wild animals. She kept trying to climb into the top of the aquariums.

And we climbed up the musical staircase. Repeatedly.

And we rode the triceratops. She wasn't a big fan.

That night we went out to eat at an Italian restaurant. Camilla loved sharing my pasta and pieces of Mark's pizza. At home we had birthday cake. She started off hesitantly licking the frosting off of her cupcake.

Eventually she got the hang of it and devoured her cake. She's definitely her father's child--the more frosting, the better!

After cake we opened presents. It's a little blurry, but she wanted to wear her hat.

She loved opening presents and was wired all  night long! I'm surprised she finally went to sleep that night!
