San Antonio

We took a little trip to San Antonio this weekend to see one of my best friends from high school and to go to Sea World. We needed a little vacation, although I don't think I would attempt something like this again at nearly 8 months pregnant. It really wiped me out and hurt a lot after walking all day, but we were especially excited to do something special with Camilla for her 2nd birthday. In fact, we were at Sea World on the big day, and she really enjoyed it. There will be plenty of years for parties and friends, but it felt too early to try something like that for her and we wanted to do something with just us. Here's some picture overload (you're lucky to get two of me, since I was always behind the camera and do not love the way I look right now, but at least we got some with all of us together).

All of us outside the Alamo

The Alamo

The Riverwalk in downtown San Antonio - I was more impressed than I thought I would be! It was nice and shady despite the 95 degree weather and full of fun restaurants. Camilla and Melanie's girls were especially impressed with the pigeons that wandered around the restaurant we ate at. I think they gave more food to the birds than they actually ate themselves.

More Riverwalk

Mark and Millie about to play in the water at Sea World

Millie was okay with getting wet as long as Daddy held onto her. Every time she got splashed by other kids, she gave them one of her iconic scowls.

Millie LOVED this boat ride. It went back and forth and spun in circles, and she said, "Wheeeeeee!" the whole time. I went on it with her once and thought I was going to throw up. I've always been fearless about things like roller coasters. Pregnancy does weird things to you.

She also loved the carousel. (It also made me feel sick.) She spent most of the time looking up and watching how the gears worked. Later that night when she was supposed to be going to sleep, she chanted, "Up, down!" over and over and over again for about an hour.

It's hard to get good pictures at the shows, but I feel I should throw them in here. I think the orcas were the most memorable animals for Camilla. We bought her a stuffed one before we left. She adores it.

Beluga Whale

Dolphins jumping (kinda hard to see)

Millie got a new hat because it was so sunny - LOVES it

At the dolphin feeding area (we didn't feed them)

In the aquarium - Camilla LOVES fish and would have stayed here all day if she could

The sea lion show was awesome! It was set up like a mystery with the sea lions helping the detectives search for the bad guy. We were amazed at how well all of the animals can be trained.

This huge walrus (who turned out to be the bad guy) did some sit-ups for us

Back in our hotel room, singing Happy Birthday to Camilla

I want to go to there. San Antonio looks so great. And Jenny - I feel like people always said this to me when I was 8 months and I rolled my eyes and said uhg - but truly - you just look so cute pregnant. You look uncomfortable but I just can't help but smile looking at you! Feel free to roll your eyes:)

Bay of play, exciting. Did you go on the shame express? Exciting times.
