Halloween

I know I'm being a little lame, but I'm not super excited about the holidays this year. I know Camilla will enjoy the excitement of the different moments, but she won't understand all the hype leading up to them. I really do look forward to Thanksgiving and Christmas and actually spending some time with extended family, but I am having a hard time getting excited about the preparations. Every time I start a project, I don't want to finish it. Luckily, Camilla had a costume this year. Mark and I, however, did not. We're not really the type you would expect to enjoy dressing up, but somehow we always come up with some last minute idea that we think is really clever and get really into it. Had we made an effort and had the time, we would have been Professor Plum and Miss Scarlet. Or maybe Mr. Green and Mrs. White. Because, after all, Camilla was a peacock. And we enjoy dressing up in random themes that cause half of the people we see to scratch their heads and wonder what makes the Transtrums tick. :)

Fortunately, Mark suggested we get a pumpkin for Camilla to paint. So at least it looks like she enjoyed her second Halloween. And she really did. She thought the painting was wonderful. She loved showing off her costume to grandma via Skype. She was really confused by the Trunk or Treat concept, but got the hang of it pretty quickly. If anybody offered her a bowl of candy to pick from, she took as many pieces as she could get before mom moved her on. She was thrilled to see the moon for the very first time in her life. (She's lately obsessed with pointing out the moon in every picture in "Goodnight Moon". She exclaims, "Moooooo!") She  is especially happy when mom actually lets her eat a piece of candy, and is fond of letting the chocolate dribble down her chin. (Gross.) And she has fallen in love with her costume. She wants to put it on off and on throughout the day until she gets frustrated by it getting in her way.

What does make the Transtrums tick? Haha! I think those costume ideas are great. And Camilla's costume is adorable! Way to go with the pumpkin, Savvy's parents aren't quite so cool. Hope you guys are doing well and loving Texas more and more.
